What I have is a 2.3liter 5 cylinder DOHC turbo volvo motor. It has quite a few performance mods, 3" downpipe, rebuilt head, upgraded turbo, flashed ecu, etc etc. Anyways recently did a dyno event at Kito's in Seattle, my numbers were a little disappointing. 288 corrected wheel torque, and only 217 corrected wheel h.p.
My suspicion is it is running out of air in the higher rpms > 4500. I have an upgraded t-body on order, going from a 2.5" stocker to a 3" aftermarket. I think that will help some, also when I pulled the head to have it rebuilt last year, I "upgraded" to the N/A volvo camsafts which are a drop in mod, and have slightly more lift and duration. The numbers I found are this
NA Cams Int 250/8.45 Turbo Cams Int 242/7.95
Exh 252/8.45 Exh 243/7.95
Guys I'm by no means a cam expert, I understand what they do, and thats about it. If it looks like there is a decent amount of room for improvement, you potentially have a new customer base, there is a large following of people modding fwd Volvo, I dont understand it either. Let me know what you think and ball park me a price, I live up the street in Federal Way, and am pretty active in the forum world, and autocross.
